What a relaxing weekend
Friday night Kennedee and 3 of her friends wanted to go see Prom Night. I didn’t want to see it so I talked Greg into going to a movie with me. I am surprised the girls didn’t get kicked out of the movie, they are so giggly. After the movie Greg took all of us girls to dinner at Chili’s. While in the movie his car stereo was stolen out of his car. He just laughed and said what can you do? I appreciate his friendship very much and although I get frustrated at times with him, I really do value the lessons in patience he gives me. Kennedee had a sleep over at our house and stayed up all night. Madison had so much fun at her sleep over. They did manicures and pedicures and they had cucumbers on their eyes. She loved it. She made it the whole night and had to comfort another girl who had a hard time without her mommy. She stayed up until 2:00.
On Saturday Kennedee went to support her soccer team with her dad and I took Madi to her game. Madison played awesome.. She surprised the boys and she has a mean foot. She scored two goals and if the wind wouldn’t have been blowing she would have scored more. The wind blew them past the goal. She was excited to play and she didn’t skip a beat even after not playing for the whole winter. Madi decided to stay home with mom this weekend. So we cleaned the house and she played on Webkinz. That reminded me of the Webkinz birthday party at the party store, so we packed up and went to the store. Madi bought a Webkinz and got one free. Now she has 7 and has to spend more time on the computer taking care of them… We came home and chilled and Madi took a nap and then we went to dinner with Greg and went to get ice cream. We came home and went to bed early.
We both slept in and missed church, but I still got up and did our weekend usual and made Madi chocolate chip pancakes. Later when it warmed up we went for a bike ride on the parkway. It was so nice to get outside and have it be warm. Madison missed Kennedee very much and called her all day to talk to her. Kennedee said she missed Madi too.
When Kennedee came home we went to a camp meeting and both girls went to bed early.
What a nice relaxing weekend.

Madison's soccer shedule
Madi's schedule is to the right if you want to check it out. She is playing on a coed team. It should be interesting. She told me last night she would like to try out for the Lehi Strykers comp team in June. Yay!!!

It's Madison's turn

Madison is so good to always go along wherever we take Kennedee. It's always about Kennedee. But now it's Madi's turn. Tonight she has activity days at the church and her soccer practice starts tonight too. Her games start this saturday and she is excited to get on the field. She has had a long break. Tomorrow night Madi is invited to a sleep over birthday party for her friend at school. She is so excited to go. She has only slept over one place that hasn't been a family member and Kennedee was in the other room. Tomorrow should be interesting to see if she makes it all night without Kennedee there.
As soon as the new dance season starts Madison will get back in dance and she wants to take piano lessons so bad. She would play the piano at Grandma Linda's and she really picked it up quick. Now we need our own piano and she needs lessons.
The cast is back

This is just not Kennedee's year. Her ankle has bothered her all season. I guess we tried to fast to get back into the game. Her ankle never healed all the way. During the game on tuesday she got kicked in the ankle again. It took her down to the point of being carried off the field by the coach. I told Kennedee if it hurt one more time she was done with the season. Well she is done. She iced it on tuesday and tried to baby it, but when she woke up yesterday it still was swollen and hurt. I called the doctor so we could have it looked at to see if it was worse. The new x-rays show it is healing and looks better but it won't get better with her playing on it. Kennedee made the very grown up decision to have the cast put back on and get it healed for the long term. She wants to try out for ODP this year and right now that is her focus. She has to have the cast for 3 weeks. Th
an we will go from there, slow this time.

Big Win

Last night Kennedee played against her old team. She has been counting down the days and has gotten very nervous. She asked the coach if she could talk to her team before the game and she gave them a pep talk. They went out and kicked butt. They won 5-0. Kennedee had a goal and an assist. Storm played as a team and they did better than they had all season. They have still lost 3 games but only played 4. Kennedee felt really good last night. The team went for ice cream and Kennedee talked the whole way home. She iced her ankle when we got home and she was so excited she couldn't sleep. Her ankle feels good and so does she, except for the raspberry she got on her leg from sliding into the goalie. Kennedee has made some great friends on this new team and from day one everyone has welcomed her and made her feel like she has been there forever. I am very proud of her and hopefully the ankle can stay healthy and Kennedee can really get into soccer shape. She knows she has a way to go. But right now time is on her side.

Saturday Fun
It is the end of spring break for the kids. They had a lot of fun staying with Grandma and Grandpa. (they all miss eachother very much). The girls were great helpers and watched Stran. Kennedee even helped Mimi with yardwork and Madi babysat, they both earned some money. On friday after helping Mimi, Madi and grandma went to the movie to see Horton Hears a Who. Kennedee wanted to see prom night and asked her dad to take her. She said it was a lot of fun and she said the movie wasn't at all scary. Yeah right, we should ask the dad that.. On saturday we went to the Treehouse and the kids pl
ayed for a while. We went to lunch at the greenery with Mimi, Stran and Grandma Linda. We headed home, but not before we stopped at a few of our favorite places and did a little shopping. The kids had a great week. They had a lot of fun hanging out with old friends and spending time with family.
On sunday we all went to church and the kids paid their tithing with the money they earned this week. We relaxed and did a little scrapbooking and homework and we are ready for the week.

Glasses
Madison went to the eye doctor for her checkup today. After 7 months of faithfully wearing her glasses, her bad eye is still the same. She has 20-70 vision in it and can't see a thing without her glasses on. It breaks my heart that it went on so long before we knew to get her eyes checked. 2 months after the school checked it we got a letter saying we may want to have a doctor check her eyes. Isn't that what the school is supposed to do? She could have had glasses a year ago had we known. She very rarely complained and with kids you never know. Madi is so good to wear her glasses all the time and she always knows where they are. She is so happy to be able to see everything. She will get checked in another 3 months and they may give her a stronger prescription then. So much for getting another pair for back up... Thank heavens no more patch either..
I told Kennedee to send me a picture of Madi and her glasses and this is what I get????

This cold weather is a drag
Yesterday was a cold miserable day. Kennedee was supposed to have practice but the wind was blowing so hard and it was snowing. Practice was cancelled at the last minute. Kennedee was bummed but got over it quick to go home and pack for the rest of her spring break. Next year we are going somewhere warm!!!!!
Poor Madi has such a yucky sunburn. She went from one day of wearing a swimsuit, running through sprinklers, getting a sunburn to having to wear a sweat shirt because it is so dang cold. I feel so bad I can't even hug her. I have to hold her head and give her a hug because everything else is sunburned. She can't lift her arms up to take her shirt off. This snow and cold weather is really becoming a drag. I want heat and sun!!!!!
We bought the High School Musical game so the kids can sing to all the songs and Madi can know a few songs. She says she knows them all. We all love to sing at the top of our lungs. Poor Grandma and Grandpa are going to be so happy when they get their quiet house back.

What a tease
Yesterday was the first day of spring break for the kids. They are out all week. Last week I told the kids if I saw snow one more time when I woke up I was pulling the covers over my head. It snowed but I got up and went to work. I told the kids on the way to school I am sick of snow I should go home and go back to bed. Madi said Mom that's not fair that you get to go back to bed and we have to go to school. I said hmmm Madi you get to sleep in all next week and not go to school. She said oh yeah. Sorry. :)
So yesterday was a beautiful day. It was sunny and nice. I sat at work while the kids got to stay home and do what they wanted. They spent the day playing with friends. Madi wore a swimsuit and ran through the sprinklers. Last night she was so sunburned. She cried that it hurt. Cute little Kennedee said Madi next time you go out to play I will make sure you have sunscreen on. She is so good to Madi.
I took the kids to the indoor pool when I got home and they swam for a while and then we went to dinner at Wingers. That was out family night. It is nice to sit down and just talk to the kids.
Last night the kids had a sleep over in the front room. They ate candy and Kennedee made them kool-aid. They watched a movie and I had to put lots of Aloe Vera on Madi and give her some ibuprofen to go to sleep. The poor kid.
This morning the kids are babysitting the neighbors kids and they had to get up early.
They get to spend the rest of the week at Grandma Linda's and Granpa Perk's. They are so exicited and so is Grandma and Grandpa.
When I left to go to work, it was windy and NOT sunny. And it is supposed to rain and maybe snow.
Yep yesterday was just a tease!!!!!

Last night was young women and Kennedee went to the food bank in SLC to stuff bags. She came home tired but excited to tell me all about it. They had to stuff 250 bags each with lots of different kinds of food. It is nice that they get to do stuff like that to appreciate what they have. Kennedee go's and go's. I worry sometimes that she won't sit still. But I look at my little grandma who is pushing 100 and she never stops either. No matter how sick she gets or what ever troubles she is having she never stops and she always worries about every one else. I guess that got passed to my mom, to me and now to my kids. I am not sure I want to live to be 100 but the never ending energy is a nice thing to have. I wish we could have Nana around another 97 years but now with her cancer, we never know how much longer we will be able to enjoy her company. We love her and Aunt Mame very much and we will be very sad when we no longer have them but I am so happy for them that they will be able to reunite with their loved ones on the other side. I am grateful that we have the gospel and our beliefs. It will be a great comfort when the day comes.
Last night Madi and I just chilled with Kennedee gone. Madi helped me make dinner and as soon as she remembers the computer and her Webkinz she runs. I have to pull her out to eat. She passed another Mastery Test yesterday so she will be able to have the Fun Friday party and she is so happy. She is such a little smarty pants and she loves school. She laid on the coach with me and we cuddled while watching some dumb show but I never hear much because she talks the whole time. :) Madi gets to go swimming tomorrow with our friends while Kennedee goes to a party at Boondocks and a sleep over. Next week is srping break and they don't have school all week. They are very excited to go to Grandma and Grandpa's to spend some time. Madi said this morning. Yeah it will be just like old times..
Kennedee has practice tonight and I worry about her ankle. She got kicked the other night at the game and it has been sore since. But she is so determined to get back into soccer shape no matter what. I couldn't keep her down if I wanted to. Madi starts soccer pretty soon too and YEAH it will be warm this weekend. No wrapping in a blanket to watch the game. Storm is struggling but we see progress and Kennedee is very happy on this team.

I love my kids

Madi cracks me up. She has always been the girly girl. She loves dresses, pretty things and playing with dolls. Kennedee straightened her hair for her last night and this morning I flipped it up. She insisted that we not pull any of it up. She says I never wear my hair down. By the end of the day she will see why. She is growing so fast and it makes my sad. She is getting more and more friends by us and she always wants to go to play. She gets phone calls more and more and she loves feeling grown up. They are both my buddies. Kennedee already would rather “hang out” with her friends than hang out with mom so when Madi decides mom isn’t as cool I will be sad. I guess it’s all about growing up and enjoying the times you do get to spend with your teenagers. Kennedee is such an awesome kid that I can’t complain that she wants to spend every waking minute with her friends. She does anything I ask without complaining and knows the house rules and makes sure Madi is always with her or at a friends. She is very responsible for a 12 yr old. I love them both to pieces.
Funny story
After Kennedee's game the other day, we were walking in the store and as innocent as can be, Kennedee says to me, mom it is so hard to play soccer in a strapless bra. All I could do was stare at her. I said WHAT?!?! Why would you wear a strapless bra to play soccer? You might as well have wore nothing. She slept over at a friends and thought she put her sports bra in her bag and she didn't. I could only laugh. All that bra supported was her waist. Chica Chica Boom Boom......
Sunday night we were doing bed time stuff just getting ready to say family prayers and we were standing in the bathroom and I looked down at Madi and said Madi did you brush your teeth and she looks up at me like DUH... Yes I did mom. I said did you use toothpaste? Yes mom... And all of a sudden Kennedee starting gagging and said yuck what is that smell? I guess Madi takes after her dad when it comes to tooting. (thanks Scott) It wasn't her breath after all.

Rock you like a hurricane
After a peaceful morning watching conference the girls had to rock out. They can't sit still for to long.
Madison got her hair cut yesterday. She has been asking me if we can get it cut up to her shoulders, I am not so sure about that. So after a long week of combing out rats and her telling me she hates her hair, we got it cut to her shoulders. It looks so cute and she likes to flip it around. She is such a little diva. Madison came into my room this morning at 8:10 and said mom I woke up at 7:50 and I am bored, (I hear that all the time). I told her to go in her room and play and watch cartoons. Gee's she has 15 cabbage patches and a room full of toys and she is bored. What's up with that? We had our usual chocolate chip pancake and french toast breakfast and I think she is bored no more.
So Kennedee had her first game of the season yesterday. She has been working so hard this whole week. She knows she has a long ways to go to get back in soccer shape and she has exhausted herself. She has been sick and hasn't complained one time. She has gone to practice and worked hard and conditioned with her dad. She had a sleep over at her friends on friday night and had to get up at 7:00 to get to her game. They lost their game, Kennedee played as hard as she could. She asked me last night, mom have you ever had those times when your body shuts down and you just can't move any more. That is how she felt in the game. She is so used to running faster and doing more and she just couldn't do it. She is so full of determination and desire and sometimes that's just not enough to get the job done. She took a Nyquil to sleep and went to bed early. Today she is sore but she says she feels better. It's a good thing it is a day of rest because she really needs it.
Have I mentioned that I have the best kids in the world. They are so funny and they entertain me. We have so much fun singing and just hanging out together.
I got a phone call at work the other day and the receptionist told me Hilda was on the phone for me. I had never heard of this person before and since she is new I explained that she needed to send them to the right person. She said but this person asked for you. I said ok and answered it and it was Kennedee and she was laughing. Hilda is a person I made up and they like to hear me talk like her and tell them stories.

Practice
The big game was cancelled again tonight. Kennedee had to settle for practice only. This is a good thing, I wanted to make sure her foot was ok and she would be able to run. I ran some errands and came back to watch the last few minutes of practice and it looked like Kennedee never had a broken foot. She was running and kicking just like normal. She is one strong kid with a lot of determination. She knows she has a long ways to go to get back in shape and she is working hard. Last night she went for a mile run around the neighborhood. She said she only stopped twice and it felt good to run and get out doors without a big heavy cast. I am very grateful that the cast didn't have to be on for longer than 3 weeks. I am not sure how Kennedee could handle that and the smell of the 2 week one was enough to make us want to pass out.
