Week 2

This weekend was a very busy one. Kennedee has been practicing a lot. Soccer 5 days a week and football 2 times a week, with 2 soccer games and 1 football game. Some times she is at practice for 4+ hours a day. I am taking this time to work more hours and spending more time with Madison. Except that Madi would rather play outside so it ends up being me and Gucci who hang out the most.
Kennedee hurt her wrist last week and while we were at the Acutane and Allergy doctor I decided to take her to the Orthopedic Dr since she was saying she couldn't move it. Nothing was broke but she could have possibly torn some ligaments. The DR said we could put a brace on it for 2 weeks and then check it again or put a cast on it. I said do the extreme, I don't want to go back in 2 weeks and have to have a cast on it. I am tired of seeing Dr's and so is Kennedee. The Acutane is working well after a month of being on it. She has gotten lots of nose bleeds but we can see a definite difference in her acne, finally!! Poor kid has struggled with that for 4 years.
Friday night was MMHS's homecoming football game and the soccer team had to work concessions, so Madi and I went at 5:30 and worked until 7 and then we hung out watching the game. Madi got a little bored so we left and went home and chilled together. She got new glasses last week and looks so cute in them.

Madison is working towards her schools Golden Explorer, so we have spent lots of time talking about the reflections contest coming up soon and working on memorizing the speeches she needs.
Saturday we got up for Kennedee's 2nd football game in Salem. Madi and I hung out in the stands and watched. For the end of Sept it is in the 80's and pretty warm for a football game, but I am not complaining. Kennedee's team won in OT. She missed 2 PAT's and 1 was blocked. She had a new holder, (the last one broke his arm) and it is a real science to hold the ball while she kicks. They will have to work on that. She had some great kickoffs and can almost kick the length of the field. She really got into the game and was mad about missing the PAT's, but they won and all is good.
Saturday evening Madi went to the neighbors and babysat the 2 boys for 5 hours and Kennedee went to a surprise party for her friends at Rachels. I chilled with Gucci and hung up all our Halloween decorations.
The MMHS soccer team has won all but 1 of the regular season games and will play 2 home games this week. Another busy week, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

First game for # 51

Saturday was Kennedee's first football game. We went on saturday and bought her a mouth guard and she was ready. Saturday night was the first time she had been in full gear. That was a little weird trying to figure out where every thing goes, but we did it with help from the great coaches and she was ready to go. She was so excited, not nervous at all. I was a little nervous but not because I was worried about her getting hurt, more because it was just weird seeing my "daughter" in full football pads standing on the sidelines with her team. Everyone has been so supportive and helped her out so much.


Before the game she was taking practice kicks and a guy in the stands by me kept making his comments, like WOW she kicks farther than most boys and he kept saying how impressed he was, I didn't tell him she was mine, I just sat back and watched her and listened to him walk around telling everyone that was a girl. One of our neighbors came by me and he is Kennedee's biggest fan. I saw him at practice and he went on and on about how awesome she is and he couldn't believe how far she can kick. He was so excited to watch her play. He walked by me and told the guy she was mine and he kept telling me the whole game how great she was. The neighbor just happened to be the announcer for the game, I could hear him in the box behind me telling the other announcer that she is a freshman and she plays on the varsity soccer team and she is such a great player and she is a great kicker. It is funny to hear other people talk about your kid and see how excited they get. The head coach came up to the booth and poked his head out and told me he was so excited to have her on the team. He said she is such a great kid, you have done very well with her. Just what every parent wants to hear.
So the game started and Kennedee kicked off.



She had a great kick and she stayed back while the team went down the field. 2 players from the other team ran to her and I saw one slap her pads on her shoulders but I turned my head to watch the game, after the game Kennedee told me he slapped her shoulders and she slapped his back and told him to watch it, she said the look of shock on his face was priceless. She loved it. She came off the field and stayed on the sidelines.
She didn't kick any punts, she wants to learn how to do it better before doing it in a game. The game went on and there were 2 times we were within range of her kicking a field goal but they went for it and we lost the ball. So far she has kicked a 45 yard field goal in practice. Our team finally got a touchdown and Kennedee went in for the extra point. The crowd went crazy! It wasn't a big crowd but the announcer made sure everyone knew Kennedee was going in and they went crazy. I was so nervous for her. But she kicked the extra point like she had been doing it forever and made it. They were up 7-0. The other team finally made it down and scored, they went for the extra point and they were blocked. So we are up 7-6.
The team made it down to field goal range and people were yelling put Kennedee in. It made me laugh. They put her in and I couldn't watch. Her field goal was blocked. So we stayed at 7-6. MMHS won the game.
After the game the coach had the team in a circle on their knees and he said where is Kennedee, everyone yelled and pointed to her. He said kid, this win is because of your extra point. The grin on her face was so cute. The team cheered and I teared up. To see all the boys and the crowd so excited to have her out there and to see how happy she was, makes me swell with pride. The night was emotional for both of us, she is happy to be part of the team and she can't wait to play again next week.
At home when we were getting ready to leave for the game, Kennedee came up stairs with makeup on and I said uh.. you are going to play football, why are you wearing makeup and she just smiled. After the game she told me the coach said to her, he is used to seeing players with black under their eyes not glitter, but he said it just showed her personality. She is one of a kind for sure.

Who would have thought

This week Kennedee had 2 high school soccer games, the first against Springville. Springville has won all their games and even had the mercy rule put in affect because they were winning by so much against SF. The first half was even, 0-0. The second half wasn't as good. We ended up loosing 6-0.
The second game was against Uintah and we won 4-0, Kennedee scored 2.

For the last year at least Kennedee has talked about being the kicker on a football team. She wanted to play tackle football when she was younger, but I didn't want her hurting the boys. Well it looks like her dream has come true. Last week, the freshman kicker got hurt so her guy friends told her she needs to call the coach about her kicking.
I called him and he said to have her come to practice after soccer practice, so she did and he had a scrimmage to do so he told her to come back the next day. She stayed in a different field and practiced field goals. The varsity coaches watched her and finally approached her and said whats your name, she answered and the coach said you are my sophomore kicker next year. Her face lit up and she said are you serious, he said YES, you kick farther than my varsity kicker. She was so excited and talked about it all night. She asked me if I thought the freshman coach would want her, I said DUH!!
So after her game last night she went over to FB practice and the assistant coach told her to kick a couple and she launched it through the goal posts. His face lit up and he took her over to the head coach and told him to watch her. She launched another through the goal posts and he said you are hired. He called the team over to watch her kick a few and the comments were funny to hear. They were amazed. I know a little about football, but to hear the boys be so surprised made me laugh. She was kicking 50 yarders every time. They took her over and got her pads and jersey and she is now on the team. First game saturday night. She is sooooo excited. I am a little nervous, but I have faith it will all be ok. She has a soccer team mate who kicks on JV and she has been fine and not hurt.
So here is my daughter the football player. She will be the one on the field with the ponytail coming out of her helmet.



I also have to mention because I think it is a little funny. Kennedee took FFA (future farmers of america) this year at school. She says this is her favorite class and she was put in as the FFA Secretary this week. Her teacher asked her if she was going to be a farmer in the future and Kennedee said Huh.. No, I want to play soccer in college, I just took this class because I thought it looked easy.

More Soccer

I told Madison the other day when we read our blog its mostly about Kennedee's soccer. I said does that make you feel bad and she said no. I told her I didn't want her to look back at our blog and think she didn't exist. It is just that Madison dances once a week and I can't take pictures of that or say a whole lot about it and she plays with her friends every day. That is the story of Madison's life. She did get to go to another Bee's game on saturday with her dad and her friend. She had a great time. She really loves the game. Since she went with her dad, I don't have any pictures to share.
Kennedee's regular soccer season started last week. Her team played SO well together. They won 8-2. Kennedee scored twice. She practices 5 days a week and is hardly ever home. Both kids are with friends so much, I have almost looked into getting more kids for when mine are gone. :)
Kennedee loves to look online and see what the newspaper has written about her and her team. So we have to share those here. The following are from the Daily Herald.

Baylee Nielsen leads the charge for the Golden Eagles with six goals, but she's also tough defensively and has capable support in Kennedee Tracy, Rachel Bingham and others.

This was the game recap last week:
At Spanish Fork, Rachel Bingham, Baylee Nielson and Kennedee Tracy had two goals apiece as Maple Mountain jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead and coasted to victory in its Region 8 opener. Mickelle Hamilton and Jessica Roundy scored a goal apiece for the Golden Eagles. McKinley Brinkerhoff scored both goals for the visiting Dons. Bingham, Hamilton and Jayci Peay had two assists each, while Wesli Peay and Hamilton each had one assist for Maple Mountain (5-2-0, 1-0-0).

A copy of this picture was left in our door at home. Come to find out a little lady in our ward had seen it on the high school website and printed it off for Kennedee.
